I have had family connections for almost 100 years with Nailstone. Born in the village and having spent the last 22 years living here (just a few years away) means that this is definitely my home.
3 1/2 years ago myself and a friend created the Nailstone Community Group through Facebook, we never imagined that this would grow into what it is today. I can genuinely say that over this time I have made many new friends and have seen the community spirit grow and grow.
Early on we wanted to work with the existing Parish Council and encourage more community activities and involvement. We have arranged many social activities such as the Christmas tree sing nights, Santa’s grotto, over 65’s free Christmas meal, pancake races, Easter egg hunts, Family fun days, race nights, litter picks and a garage sale. Regular events such as book club, pudding club have been fantastic & offer something for everyone.
The fundraising we have done has either been put back into the village for future events or donated to local charity.
We have met pretty much every Thursday evening in the Bulls Head since September 2016 and this has become part of what we do!
I have decided to stand for the 2019 Parish Council as I want to continue bringing the village together to further enhance the engagement and sense of community. I have lots more ideas that I would like to put to the village to make this an even better place to live.
