75th Anniversary of the crash of B17-G Flying Fortress “The Heavenly Body”

On 27th September 1944, the B17-G Flying Fortress called “The Heavenly Body” was on a night navigation training exercise and caught fire, crashing in a field outside Nailstone. Sadly, all 12 Airmen were killed

It would be appropriate to remember these young men that died so far from home. Their Bomber group, helped to end the second world war

A commemoration will be held in the village and there will be a Commemoration service on Friday 27th September at 3pm at the Memorial in the Church Meadow as well as a ticket only Commemoration Evening at the Dove Bank Primary School at 7pm.
